By Boat:

Minorca island can be reached by ferries from both mainland Spain and Majorca. It is easily accessible by sea from Alcudia and Cala Ratjada in Majorca via the port of Ciutadella. Barcelona, Palma de Majorca, and Valencia are also accessible from the port of Mahon. Barcelona port is the closest port from where ferries are available every 4 hours to 8 hours.

By Air:

Minorca can be easily reached by air, anywhere from Europe. Minorca Airport or Mahon Airport is the main airport of Minorca. It is located around 4.5km to the southwest of Mahon city. Many airlines offer regular flights during the summer season to Minorca.

The main interior road link is Mahon to Ciutadella, which passes through Alaior, Es Mercadal, and Ferreries. Sant Luis, Es Castell has the road links to Mahon. Fornells in the north and Es Migjorn Gran in the south are linked to the main road. Minorca island has a wide road network that connects to the coast and various prehistoric monuments.

Taxi:

Taxi is the most popular and comfortable mode of transport. Also, many car rental companies serve visitors throughout the island.

Bus:

Various private bus companies cover all major routes on the island. Buses from the main Plaza in Ciutadella run to many western beach towns. Buses from Ferreries, Alaior, Mahon run to Sant Luis and all of the beach towns in the East.

Motorbikes / Bicycle:

Cycle lanes exist on some minor roads. The island has some country roads, which are perfect for relaxed cyclists. Motorbikes are also a suitable and effective means of transport to discover the island.

Is Menorca safe to visit?

The crime rate has increased recently. It is safe to roam in the cities, towns during the day. Avoid going alone at night, especially in lonely areas. It is unlikely that you will be robbed in Menorca. It is better not to display valuables, money in crowded places. Please do not leave valuables in the car; they can be stolen.
